I have mixed feelings about LEED certified green buildings designed to use the lowest possible amount of energy.

Why do they always have recycled air that smells bad and the highest levels of indoor junk light?

Surely it's possible to make an efficient building that has the highest possible air-quality and indoor lights that are compatible with our biology instead of using LED lights that make us weak.

In the documentary about toxic mold I shot recently, one of the hedge fund managers I interviewed got really sick after he moved into a brand new LEED building in New York City. The air quality system was so "efficient" that it allowed toxic mold to grow throughout his building.

We are opening the new Bulletproof headquarters in Seattle soon. I worked with the lighting engineers and discovered that we could use high-quality halogen lighting with exactly the same power consumption that LED lights would have taken.

It even cost less, but more importantly, it creates an environment that people actually want to be in. It's the least I could do for team Bulletproof!

I am hopeful that we will see a change in building design so that we create buildings the same way I create food – how you feel when you use it is most important, and the impact it has on the world because of that is better. #leed #greenbuilding #junklight
