#Catalonia's disputed independence referendum was in chaos on Sunday as Spanish national police raided polling stations and clashed with voters.

The #Catalan President condemned "indiscriminate aggression" against people attempting to vote peacefully. #Spanish authorities appeared determined to prevent the vote from taking place.

337 people have been wounded by national police sent in by the government to close down polling stations, regional authorities said. #Barcelona's deputy mayor said police fired rubber bullets at people as they attempted to vote in the referendum, which #Spain's top court has declared illegal.
