This illustration is by artist Jane Beaird, aka @quietcreature, who—like many women—was shocked by the new Trump administration ruling that gives employers the choice to opt out of covering contraception methods for women. “[It’s] a disturbing step towards control of women's bodies, reproductive rights, and financial freedom,” she tells Glamour. “So many women, myself included, take birth control to prevent health issues such as breast and ovarian cysts, PMS, and ovarian cancer. It just feels like women are being backed into a corner.” Thousands of working women across the U.S. will be affected by these exemptions, which are effective immediately. "It was important that I made an image depicting women in a group because, as we saw with the Women's March in January, there's something really magical and empowering about women coming together to make their voices heard," Beaird adds. ✊?✊?✊?✊? #HandsOffMyBC
