Pioneering Swiss artist Cuno Amiet painted this portrait of his adopted daughter, Greti Adam, in his Oschwand studio when she was seven years old.

Amiet moved to the picturesque Oschwand after getting married in 1898. His house became a meeting place for influential artists and writers, including Nobel Prize winners Adolf Frey and Hermann Hesse. Aside for travelling for exhibitions, Amiet would remain in Oschwand for the rest of his life.
