Q: When you are confident about your product and your skills, but not confident about starting your own business, how can you move past that obstacle? Love, Reema ?
A: Taking the leap to quit your day job and start your own business can quite possibly be one of the scariest things to face. The fear of the unknown is very daunting. My recommendation would be to try to start as a side business and see what kind of demand you get and also see if you even like it. If you're passionate enough, then go for it. When I first started my business, I worked out of my tiny apartment in NYC and designed invitations on the side. Pretty soon, my name got passed around and around and the demand became so big that I realized I needed to do this. At the time, no one was doing what I was offering so it gave me the confidence to try. BUT you must know that all the passion in the world isn't going to make your business an overnight success. The biggest most important factor here is to be absolutely sure your financials are in order otherwise your company will not be sustainable and you will soon find yourself working around the clock with no money. It's so important to track your time and know your true cost of goods. Because love doesn't pay the bills. ?
