one year ago (left), I had a meeting with @ウラヘンリクセン that changed my life. We were sitting in a little cafe in Copenhagen and he carefully listened to me confess how ashamed I was of my acne; how badly I suffered imposter syndrome as a beauty director with bad skin. “How can I even give people skin-care recommendations with a face like mine?!” I asked. He saw the pain in my eyes and told me I had to stop looking in the mirror and focusing on the negative. I had to find something positive and see the beauty in my face and encourage myself to trust the process and invest in caring for my skin, and more importantly, myself. After that, I stopped dreading my skin-care routine and turned it into a meditative practice, taking my time and taking it slow and loving my face, rather than furiously trying to scrub and burn the acne and redness away. One year later and you can see how much progress I’ve made. But the raw before-and-afters can’t compare to how I FEEL. How I don’t hide behind my hair in meetings anymore | @catquinn
