One of the first films I ever saw about the Ballroom Community was the 1968 documentary ‘The Queen.’ In it, the Founder of the House of LaBeija, the late, great #CrystalLaBeija, speaks the immortal words ‘Because you're beautiful and you're young; you deserve to have the best in life.’ That encapsulates the spirit of #patmcgrathlabs - I want everyone, regardless of age, race, nationality, body type or gender identity to feel beautiful and know they deserve the best life has to offer. Additionally, Crystal’s decision to create Balls that showcased inclusivity and diversity when that wasn’t the norm is the reason the Ballroom Community is the #inspiration it is to me.
