The work shows his studio assistant, Lydia Delectorskaya, relaxing in the embroidered blouse of the title. Delectorskaya joined Matisse’s household in 1932, but it was 3 years later that the artist noticed her potential as a model. She quickly became central to the creation of a string of masterpieces.
