Forward, march! ??? The red crabs are on the move on @christmasisland; they're scuttling down to the beach in their thousands since the monsoon rains arrived late last week. This fascinating behaviour is part of their annual migration from the forest to the coast to breed; the moist, overcast conditions allow the crabs to make their long and difficult journey to the sea. It's estimated that 40 - 50 million of these bright red land crabs live on #ChristmasIsland, which means that during the migration the island is literally covered with these colourful critters.
