As the field of genome editing continues to heat up, the latest development in this exciting scientific frontier involves small viruses called AAVs (adeno-associated viruses), pictured here, that have the power to overwrite human DNA. These small viruses can be engineered to carry a specific genetic sequence, and they can be programmed to target a particular site in the human genome. We’re teaming up with biotech company Homology Medicines with the aim to adapt and refine AAV technology in an effort to treat a blood disorder, eye diseases and other conditions. ? ?
