In the Jiajing reign (1522–66), porcelain began to be produced on a larger scale. The production of wucai, or ‘five enamel’ vessels, reached new heights in both quality and quantity.

A highly important and extremely rare wucai ‘fish’ jar and cover. Jiajing six-character mark in underglaze blue and of the period (1522–66). 46 cm high. Estimate on request.
