Symbol: Empty Set. Sound: These are another phenomenon typically found upstream from planetary bow shocks, in this case Jupiter's.  They are called ion-acoustic waves.  They are an acoustic like plasma wave in that they are compressional.  They are thought to be driven by ion beams in the solar wind (although there are other possibilities). They have highly variable frequencies because they are Doppler shifted by the speed of the solar wind.  In the rest frame of the solar wind they would be at much lower frequencies. These sounds are collected by NASA’s @NASAJuno Mission now in orbit around Jupiter. #OBLiViON
