After I kiss my kids goodbye as they leave for their dad’s house for Thanksgiving weekend, there is a silence in my house that is deafening. I clean my kids’ rooms vigorously trying to block out sad thoughts. And then I stop...and allow myself to feel sad for a few moments. I think how, although it never gets easier, this process does become predictable. And that’s ok. Feel how you feel, and then move on.

And then I smile thinking about how many more people will get to love on my kids this weekend. ❤️

(And then I smile thinking about all the sushi I will eat, running I will do, friends I will see, and the clean house I will enjoy...all weekend long. Balance is good. ?)
