A central figure of the Russian avant-garde and an essential link between artistic developments in the East and West, today #AlexandraExter is best known for her revolutionary work in theatre art and stage design. A group of 14 works by the artist now comes to auction for the first time, having been passed down through the descendants of Ihnno Ezratty, a close friend of the artist from her Paris years and executor of her estate. Before emigrating permanently from #Russia in 1924, Exter had been a regular visitor to Paris and had participated in numerous exhibitions in Europe. She was well acquainted with Gertrude Stein, Henri Bergson and Guillaume Apollinaire as well as with all the artists of the day.
