Didi Gregorius grew up in Curacao working out at the St. Jozef's school gym while his mom was teaching aerobics there. He began working with trainer Romeo Coenraad when he was 10 years old and the tradition continues today, as he works out with him every day in the same gym whenever he visits his home on the island during the winter. The Yankee shortstop played baseball at nearby Shon Ki Nicasia Ballpark in Marchena, pitching when not playing in the infield.
