Takashiba Deko-Yashiki is well known throughout the country for its folk crafts dating back 300 years to the Edo Bunroku era. The craftsmen there still continue to make the colourful Hariko dolls, Hariko masks and Miharugoma from generation to generation. The wooden patterns have been designated as important cultural assets by the prefectural government. The lively ubiquitous papier-mâché (paper dolls) will bring a smile to your face! We must continue to preserve and encourage traditional place and cultural heritage of humanity.
