This fall, LACMA published a special book, "Painted in Mexico, 1700–1790: Pinxit Mexici," which accompanies a major exhibition that recently opened at LACMA. Over six years, four curators went on a journey through Mexico, Europe, and the United States in cars, buses, and small propeller planes, visiting over 100 churches, convents, public institutions, and private collections in more than 30 cities. ? ? ? ⠀⠀

The result? A stunning book filled with new scholarship and images from an overlooked century, in both English and Spanish editions.⠀⠀
