**LA** ‘tis the season to give and recieve and on December 16th @bootlegtheater you can do just that! Come listen to @pearlcharles, @lesliestevenssss, @kateberlant, and @buzzytunes (to name a few) lend their voices to benefit the gorgeous kiddies up top and @himeforhelp—an organization that aids some of the 400,000 kids in #haiti living without parents. After the earthquake in 2010, @emhime travelled from her native Canada to help the rebuilding efforts. Instead of going home and going to college or trying to become an artist or falling in love or anything, she decided to stay. She rented a house and started taking in children whose parents could not or did not care for them for a multitude of reasons. At age 19, Emily essentially became a single parent to 11 children, all of whom come from backgrounds full of trauma, abuse, slavery, abandonment, and illness. In 2015, I travelled to Port-Au-Prince and saw first hand the beautiful home that Emily and her kids have created together. Her kids are so adorable and so loving with her and each other.
