Lemur. There are around 100 species of lemur – all native to the island of Madagascar. Pictured here we have the ring-tailed lemur, the Verreaux’s sifaka, the Coquerel’s sifaka, the indri and the mouse lemur. Lemurs don’t have the best eye sight but communicate more through scent. They can also be VERY vocal. The indri is known for an air horn like howl! Unfortunately, more than 90% of lemur species are endangered, making them the most endangered mammal group on earth. There are many conservation organizations around the world working to protect lemurs. You can help by supporting these organizations, supporting research groups, volunteering in Madagascar or by spreading the word on social media about the importance of lemur conservation!
