Bats circling the Deer cave entrance in The Gunung Mulu National Park, Sarawak, Malaysia. This National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that encompasses incredible caves and karst formations in Borneo’s mountainous equatorial rainforest setting. Please go to @mattiasklumofficial to meet a charming giant panda that I photographed in Foping Nature Reserve, China. At least 12 species of bat have been recorded here. Deer Cave that is located in the southern limestone hills of the park is home to an enormous colony of Wrinkle-lipped bats estimated to number between 2.5 and 3.5 million individuals. The bats exit the cave almost every evening in search of food. A huge mound of guano in the cave is evidence of the size of the bat colony that roosts in the cave's high ceilings.
