My #wcw post for the week goes out to all the amazing women of color that turned up yesterday to vote and make sure their voices were heard - think @ソフィア・ブッシュ summed it up nicely below.

Doug Jones went after the Klan for murdering four little girls. Roy Moore went after little girls. And before anybody says “allegedly,” police officers were tasked — with taxpayer money — to keep him away from the shopping malls where he harassed these little girls. The choice shouldn’t have been hard. But let’s also be real, this was a close race.

We need to reassess. A lot of things, as a society and community at large. But in this moment, I just truly want to shout out the black women who, despite widespread voter suppression efforts, showed up and won this race. These women consistently show up and vote on the #rightsideofhistory. Thanking these women, over and over again after the fact, is not enough. We need to champion them. We need black women in leadership positions. We need to elect black women. We need to listen to them and elevate their stories. In my industry? We need to fund their productions and buy their scripts.

As a female creative who is newly entering into the production space, this is something I’m thinking deeply about. Any women of color out there looking for a collaborator with a little experience to story-tell with? Reach out. Let’s do this.

While I certainly don’t think I have all the answers, as a woman who has fought tooth and nail for a more level playing field in my own workplaces, I want to intentionally and simultaneously fight alongside other women who are striving to do the same.”
