An innovator and master of printmaking during the German Renaissance, #AlbrechtDrer created a number of religiously motivated woodblock series, including The Small Passion, which grants us scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. In this intimate nativity scene from the smaller of Dürer’s passion series, the artist places the viewer below the Virgin Mary, Christ, and their visitors. His gently carved lines bring us from the decrepit barn up to a clear sky, where the star of Bethlehem shines. #MerryChristmas!
