Before the sun rose, shedding light above the Bay of Bengal, my first morning near Cox’s Bazaar last November in Bangladesh while on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック. Remembering how hauntingly beautiful it was to walk towards this stretch of beach, not knowing what the twinkling lights were until far too close to turn back. This beach is where thousands of Rohingyan refugees had arrived into Bangladesh in the fall of last year, fleeing persecution in Myanmar. Today 700,000 Rohingyan are stateless, landless in Bangladesh, slowly fading from the news, our thoughts, as a new year begins...
