A unusual anniversary today- one that runs deep through the realm of British rock folklore and legend. ⠀

36 years ago today was the day Ozzy Osbourne of Black Sabbath fame, bit the head off a bat. Albeit, by accident, and probably due to being a little fuzzy from his drug and alcohol addiction. ⠀

The incident took place when the British metal band played a show in Des Moines, Iowa. Two kids had brought a bat home from school, and after failing to keep it alive, took it along to the show thinking it would be appreciated by the singer. They hurled it onto the stage, and Ozzy assumed it was a toy rubber bat, and shoved it into his mouth. It was a few moments before he realised the bat was ever so real. ⠀

Still plagued with questions about the apparent stunt, accident or not it has certainly has cemented his reputation as the Prince of Darkness. ⠀
