If you’ve visited Vancouver before then you may be familiar with the boom that happens every night at 9:00pm. For almost 120 years, the 9 O'Clock Gun in Vancouver's Stanley Park has boomed the time of day. The gun doesn't fire cannons every night, and instead is fired electrically with flashing red lights that warn passersby of the blast. There have only been seven periods that the cannon hasn't fired, including in 1969 when Engineering students from the University of British Columbia held it for a "ransom" that was then donated to the BC Children's Hospital. ?: @e.madou ? : @inside_vancouver, @hellobc #ExploreCanada
