We meet some beautifully strange characters in this life. One of uniqueness was Vladimir, a 70 year-old ethnic Russian who read the future engraved in my palm, the next evening drinking far too much vodka together, this kind gentle bear who had lived all his life in Moynak, Uzbekistan. In equal strangeness, I miss those two days spent nearly a year ago in this bewildering small town along the retreated Aral Sea. Vlad’s backyard, a legacy of the past, present, his mind.
