This fox is partway through its transition from winter to summer pelage (hence the big clump of white fur on its back). Arctic foxes do not hibernate, and were some of the few animals I’ve bumped into when spending time on the West Greenlandic tundra in the dusky darkness of late winter (when they have much more fur).
