We Can Do It!? Today, we’re reflecting on the legacy of Naomi Parker Fraley, who died last week at the age of 96. Fraley, a war worker during World War II, was recently identified as a possible inspiration for the worker who proclaims “We Can Do It!” in this famous World War II poster. ?????????? While scholars are still debating who the figure in the famous “We Can Do It!” poster is, the popularity of the poster is clear. During World War II, government agencies, businesses, and private organizations issued a variety of posters calling upon every American to support the war effort. This poster was originally created by artist J. Howard Miller for the Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company. Although it was only displayed for a brief time in Westinghouse factories, the poster has become one of the most famous icons of World War II.
