Celebrating #LGBTHistory month we take a look at the undiluted, unrestricted and undisguised private works of British #painter Keith Vaughan, which remained in the confines of his #studio until after his death. In a postscript to his #memoirs, Vaughan described his regret at having lived behind a locked door, in the margin rather than on the main page – as even his trusted gay friends like Prunella Clough, John Ball, Gordon Hargreaves and Patrick Woodcock knew nothing of this aspect of his output. This #collection of erotic images from 1940-1960, pasted into a #sketchbook, will go on view in our #London galleries from 7 February as part of our Erotic: Passion & Desire auction.
