Our new black opal earrings seem galactic, like interplanetary treasures. These incredible stones push the boundaries of what we expect from nature. Their vibrant and metallic structure, glowing with phosphorescent greenery, ultramarine blue, and sparks of orange, is revealed out of a stormy black exterior. Derived from the Sanskrit word úpala, opals trace Australia back to the time when it was shared land on a super continent, one with the Indian Continent. Back then an inland sea covered Australia, and it is on this primordial sea floor, black opals were formed 5-6 million years ago.  The vibrant colors in the opals are complimented by radiant emeralds slices and the deep blue sapphire beads.
