In late 19th century, Madam C.J Walker realized that very few beauty products were made keeping black women's hair and skin care in mind, so she created her own line and went door to door selling shampoos and hair growth formulas. By 1910, Walker's was the largest African-American business in the United States, and she was posthumously recognized as America's first female self-made millionaire.
