“Aloft Conn” is a small control center five stories above the highest deck of the #PolarStar, which gives ice pilots an elevated view allowing them to find the best path through the thick #Antarctic ice. The crew of the Seattle-based Polar Star were in Antarctica to support of #OperationDeepFreeze 2018, the U.S. military’s contribution to the National Science Foundation-managed, or @nsfgov , U.S. Antarctic Program.
