Immerse yourself in First Nations artwork on your next visit to Vancouver. This carving by artist Bill Reid depicts the story of the Raven and the first men. According to the Haida legend, the Raven found himself alone one day on Rose Spit beach on Haida Gwaii. Suddenly, he saw an extraordinary clamshell at his feet. Protruding from it, were a number of small creatures. The Raven coaxed them to leave the shell to join him in his wonderful world. Plongez dans l’univers artistique des Premières Nations lors de votre prochaine visite à Vancouver. Cette sculpture de l’artiste Bill Reid raconte l’histoire du Corbeau et des premiers hommes. Selon une légende haïda, le Corbeau se trouvait un jour seul sur la plage de Rose Spit, à Haida Gwaii, quand il aperçut à ses pieds un extraordinaire coquillage d’où dépassaient plusieurs petites créatures. Le Corbeau réussit à les amadouer pour qu’elles quittent leur coquillage et l’accompagnent dans son monde merveilleux. Au départ, certaines d’entre elles hésitèrent, mais la curiosité les fit finalement sortir du coquillage entrouvert : c’est ainsi que naquit la lignée des Haïdas.
