While listening to the 1978 American K2 team recount their stories, I sat across the table from my grandfather, Dr. James Morrissey, an AAC member for nearly 50 years and the leader of the first successful expedition of the Kangshung Face of Everest in 1983. Being surrounded by such intrepid individuals and hearing about the adventures of mountaineers such as Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, made me realize the extreme level of dedication, teamwork, and courage that it takes to embark on such endeavors.
