A grey whale surfaces in the mouth of San Ignacio lagoon, a critical calving sanctuary in Baja California, Mexico. Normally when boats or divers stray into my photographs I mutter four letter expletives under my breath, but in this case the whale watching boat provided exactly the type of scale needed to show off the sheer size of this large female. Shot on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック magazine in collaboration with @maresmexicanos and @conanp_mx @natgeocreative
