Bottlenose dolphins in Florida demonstrating mud-ring behavior. Dolphins are one of the few animal species that devise unique feeding strategies, depending on the geographical region in which they live. In these shallow waters, a single dolphin swims in a perfect circle and uses its tail to disturb the muddy bottom, thus creating a mud ring around a school of fish. The fish won’t swim through the mud net, and nervously jump over the ring into the waiting mouths of the waiting dolphins. Dolphins have the largest brains after humans - relative to body size - in the animal kingdom and have high levels of cognition. While we do not yet know exactly how smart dolphins are, research is currently being conducted to determine the cognitive capacity of these amazing creatures.
