@lukewagnerphoto Ever wonder how these geological oddities are created?

I went to a place called Pawnee Buttes this morning way out in eastern Colorado. Out of the flat, featureless plains rise these massive stone monoliths. They look like huge ships out in the middle of the ocean. I have no idea the natural processes that occurred to create them, aside from the obvious erosion, and I'm not sure I want to know. That knowledge might kill the magic.

I got a surprise sunrise too. The sky had pretty thick cloud cover, so I wasn't thinking I'd get much color, but then fire hit the clouds all through blue hour. Absolutely incredible, but very short lived.

It was a great morning at a location I've never visited before. I'm definitely going back to this place
