President Trump inspected prototypes for his “big beautiful border wall” near the Otay Mesa Port of Entry in San Diego, California, on March 13, amid peaceful protests yet growing tensions between his administration and the state over immigration. California officials have refused to help federal authorities detain and deport immigrants in the country illegally. Last week, the Justice Department sued the state last week over three of its immigration laws. Trump was briefed on eight towering prototypes, the Associated Press reports, and said he liked a fully concrete wall because it was the hardest to climb. He noted that it should have see-through capability and said certain parts of the state—Tuesday's trip marked his first visit there as president—are desperate for a wall to break the flow of illegal immigration.
