Morning workouts in the rain with the little bear and fox. One of my most vivid memories as a kid was being actively afraid of rainstorms. I remember the look and sound of the dark sky being ripped apart and unleashing a torrent of water. My dad being the badass that he was solved that by waiting until we had a midwest monsoon, (sans lightning) tying our sneakers, putting on Augustana racing singlets, and taking us for a run in the rain. I’ll never forget it. We hit every giant puddle, we raced faster than any human has ever gone, we outran the raindrops and the fear. It was the perfect reframing of fear into adventure, from trepidation to affinity. Wyatt and Esme’ are learning to love the rain like their father did before them...such is the beauty of life.
