Words cannot describe how my life has changed since 2015 when I started my work with @theirc. In this time, many of the refugees I have had the honor to meet are Syrians. Syrians like the Alassi family, whom I met in Greece in 2015 and reunited with last year in Germany and who are some of the warmest, most welcoming people I’ve ever met. This week, I’m thinking of them even more because the Syria crisis has turned 7 years. 7 years of war and tragedy. 7 years too many. The Alassi family were the ‘lucky’ ones who have found safety, but the majority of Syrians have not had the same opportunity. We must work for peace for all Syrians to find safety and sanctuary, and for the Syria war to come to an end. Join the IRC and me in demanding for peace. Enough is enough.
