We’re celebrating Jenny Saville for today’s Women’s History Month post.
Over her career, Saville has taken the depiction of the human form in unprecedented directions. Her visceral embodiments confront issues of mortality while attesting to a tenacious formal engagement with the problems and innovations of both classical figuration and radical abstraction.

A major survey of Saville’s work “NOW | Jenny Saville” opens at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh, on March 24, 2018. Featuring monumental paintings and drawings by Saville dating between 1992 and 2017, the exhibition will demonstrate the scale and ambition of the artist’s practice.
