A working document, photographers’ contact sheets were not designed to be displayed, and many photographers are reluctant to exhibit them because, in a way, they expose their creative process. However, the exhibition Magnum Contact Sheets allows us to delve into the history behind some of the best-known images by Magnum photographers.

Presenting a remarkable selection of contact sheets and related material by 67 Magnum photographers, the exhibition lays bare the creative methods, strategies and editing processes behind their images.

The exhibition opens at Abbaye de Stavelot in Belgium tomorrow, where it will be on display until December 2.
