In Bangladesh during wedding season, an already intimate community joins together to celebrate the formation of new families. Neighbors, and even acquaintances, help the family of the bride to adorn an otherwise humble yard with every provision available. Stairways are marked with paintings of fish, birds, and flowers; wooden posts are fashioned with columns of gada phool (marigolds), the air is filled with the staccato of tabla (drums).
