Poacher’s snare.
Powerful symbol of gorilla conservation given to me by @savinggorillas’s Chief Advancement Officer, Anna Hutto.
For my role as a Primatologist heading up an anti-poaching unit in RAMPAGE, we consulted with the amazing and tireless team at the Dian Fossey Foundation for our gorilla research.
As an animal lover, I have to say again that this Rampage experience for this role has been life changing, eye opening and educating in ways I never imagined.
When you understand that there are only 880 Mountain Gorillas left on this planet.. think about that for a second... only 880.
Now the emotion you can see on Anna’s face here, should make sense as she’s presenting to me a piece of a poachers snare that once caught a gorilla that was safely freed by an anti-poaching unit in Africa.
I’m grateful this piece of snare came full circle and found its way into my hands.
