Glaswegian trio @CHVRCHES have few peers. Sure, they have plenty of imitators—synth-pop bands who split the difference between pop hooks and experimental textures are all over festival lineups—but none have so perfectly nailed the formula. Now, the band are preparing to release their third album, Love Is Dead, and they haven’t softened their critical perspective one bit. “The state of the world … it’s fucked, man,” reflects multi-instrumentalist Iain Cook.
