'Each temple in #Angkor is spectacularly unique. If I had to choose a favourite it would be Bayon. I was greeted with the 216 smiling faces of Avalokiteshvara, a Buddhist figure, all at varying degrees of deterioration. Many claim these faces are actually of the (presumably vain) King Jayavarman VII who built Bayon. From afar, Bayon looks like a muddle of crumbling bricks; it’s only when you are amongst it you can fully appreciate the intricate detail and see the faces from all angles. There’s little restriction on where you can wander – allowing you to get lost in the maze of fallen stone.' - @joedavis_#lpInstaTakeover #Cambodia
