I should save this for Day 7 of #the100dayproject but I might not have the courage to share by then. It feels vulnerable posting a photo of myself in this space. It seems to be generally frowned upon to show one’s mug up in here so it almost feels like I’m putting myself on a public chopping block. It’s sort of ironic, isn’t it? We tout candidly on being one’s self but if we see others truly embrace who they are with joy and fullness and a healthy confidence, we can be quick to assume that they are a self-centered narcissist for not being more modest or even falsely modest. What a mixed message. I have found quite the opposite in my experience. Those who truly embrace themselves seem to have a beautiful grace for others while being able to uphold healthy boundaries for themselves. I love that and it’s something my spirit is protecting and guarding in this season. I feel less inclined to apologize for honoring my heart, for what I choose to prioritize and for not being what others “need” me to be. I feel like I’ve discovered new muscles and while they are sore from being dormant it’s a good kind of sore because I know it’s building up my overall health. Whenever I start peeling through layers, a lot of dissonance and shake-up in my world happens. Some of it feels unpleasant but it lends itself to create more room for brighter and healthy elements to emerge forth and enter. I’m not afraid of what or who I may lose in the growing process anymore but rather thankful for the few who joyfully remain, the lessons learned from what does fall away and the hope and excitement of what is to come. If your intentions are pure, if you honor your spirit, if you can remind kind in the static, then you should never have to apologize for being yourself even in moments of flaw and grit. And I dare say that those worthy of being connected closely to you would never want you to either. #100daysofhappy . . #100dayproject #beyoutiful #betruetoyourself #livefree #liveauthentically #creativelife #selfcaresunday #portrait_mood #portrait_today #wholeness #healthyandhappy #boundaries #empoweryourself #livehappy #shotoniphone #shotoniphonex #portraitmode #bwportrait
