The Italian word ‘Alcova’ means ‘a place where the lovers meet’. It’s the title of a handmade cast glass collection that Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have created for @wonderglassltd, unveiled next week at Salone del Mobile. The constituent alcoves and vessels form shrine-like displays in a delicate palette of grey, clear and amber, preserving fold lines and imperfections from the making process. ‘What is interesting here is to find the point where imperfection is interesting and where it stops,’ says @ronanbouroullec, ‘these pieces are full of life because they are not made by a robot or a machine.’ We sent photographer @giuliorojerghirardi and writer @ali__morris behind the scenes at the brand’s factory near Venice.
