Antwerp is named for a giant named Druon Antigoon, who would cut off your hand and throw it in the water if you didn’t pay a toll. One day, Silvius Brabo cut off Antigoon’s hand he he threw it in the river. Why the city isn’t named Brabo but instead named for the monster who originally did all the hand cutting, I don’t know. Anyway, Antwerp literally means “hand throwing” and yet, they aren’t know for boxing... ?
But now... they have hand shaped chocolates?? and cookies ?and I was given some! #antwerpen
