it’s really just a love story. It’s your love story. The food that I grew up with, is a reflection of my childhood + my ancestry. I wrote these 50 recipes for you, to paint a picture of what mixed kids grew up eating. I was raised by incredible immigrant parents. Mom raised us Japanese American in California. & so many of you have been writing to me about how much you can relate.
Thank you ??I’m shocked that it’s not been written about before... this country is made of immigrants, it was built by immigrants & although I am a proud American, my Japanese and Polish roots will not leave me.
I often say in my interviews & podcasts—- “if you feel that you have nowhere to go, turn to your heritage & ancestry. Where you came from is who you truly are.” If you want to talk real wellness? I urge you to look to your ancestors & stop looking around.
When we go back home, we are gently grounded. It’s like a hand-hold leading your heart.
Marcus Garvey once said “A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin, culture is like a tree without roots.” Ponder on that yo, stop looking at all the surfacy bullshit + trends. & go get your book, support a local hard-working artist & get grounded. x ?ck
